Willem van der Wal
Willem van der Wal has unique and profound knowledge in the field of safety of natural gas transmission and distribution. From 1983 – 2002 he was employed by Gastec where he was directing research to catalytic utilization of natural gas and advising in purchasing gas. From 2000 – 2002 he was responsible for the product development at Gastec.
In 2002 he joined the Dutch energy regulator as an expert in gas infrastructure. He worked on quality regulation and the supervision of gas safety.
From 2007 – 2014 Willem van der Wal directed the supervision of gas network operators at the gas safety regulator (SodM). He developed in cooperation with the gas network operators a new standard for safety management (NTA 8120). In 2014 this business specific standard was harmonized with the ISO 55000 standard for asset management.
Willem van der Wal holds an M.Sc. (1979) and Ph.D. degree (1987) from Utrecht University.
Willem van der Wal is senior consultant for D-Cision since 2014.
